Luis is a guitarist and composer born and raised in Bethlehem, PA. He started off his musical journey playing traditional Puerto Rican folk music with his family which began his strong appreciation for the art of improvisation and his love for the multitude of genres that surrounded him including latin, rock, jazz, and neo-soul. He has been a part of many music festivals including Musikfest, Southside Arts and Music Festival, and Holy Infancy Multicultural Festival.

At Kutztown University, he continued his musical career as a proud member of the KU Jazz I Ensemble and the five-time consecutive Downbeat Award winning Blues and Rock Ensemble I. He then earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance in Spring 2021.

Luis is also a creator and shared bandleader of the music ensemble BL_NK SLATE which explores a fusion of hip-hop, R&B, and soul.

He works towards composing his own original music and pulls from a variety of influences including Latin, jazz, prog rock, math rock, classic rock, hip-hop, R&B, funk, and soul.

As an educator, Luis is passionately committed to investing in each students’ education and growth. He teaches music as a language and hopes to engage them in activities that challenge them to be creative, disciplined, flexible, and cooperative with others. He promises to continue his research and strives to find ways to improve his effectiveness as a teacher and an artist.
